Social Media Demand: Tinned fish has gone viral on platforms like TikTok, causing sudden spikes in buying and frequent empty shelves by overbuying customers. Some people were buying a whole sleeve at a time before Trader Joe’s started to limit purchases.
So demand has greatly increased.
Couple that with….
Global Shortage: Supply is tight due to lower seasonal catch volumes and shifting ocean temperatures affecting fish populations. GLOBAL WARMING. Europe has had one of the hottest summers on record.
So a Perfect Storm of events.
Nothing we can really do except wait for the fisheries to get supply going when they can. Ask your Front Desk if they have any idea when they expect restocking
