Trader Joe’s RWANDA Small Lot Coffee

This is the latest Small Lot coffee Trader Joe’s has released. It’s from Africa, from Rwanda. Pretty sure this is the first coffee I’ve tasted from there. This is an unusual coffee with a unique taste. African coffees are interesting in general I’ve found. It’s grown high in the mountains, where banana trees used to be.

I didn’t love it at first but to be honest it kind of grew on me as I tried it over the week. It’s not bad, it’s not great but pretty good. It’s an interesting coffee and pretty tasty with a citrus-y note that they describe as “clementine”.

This is labeled “Medium Roast” which I find accurate. I would say even “light medium”. It had an interesting flavor, a bit wine-y, a bit citrus-y. The bag describes “notes of clementine, vanilla and dark chocolate“. Yes, there is some kind of citrus-y note in the background.

Still I measure these Small Lot coffees from all the past ones I’ve tried. Most of them are pretty good. A few of them have been outstanding, my favorite being the MOUNTAINS OF THE MOON gem of a coffee from Uganda. With a few others!

This RWANDAN coffee isn’t one of those few outstanding Small Lot coffees, but it is kind of interesting and actually grew on me as I drank it all week.

If, like I do, you like to check out and try every Small Lot coffee they come out with, I would say worth this is one that is at least trying once. I don’t love it but I liked it. I might not get another bag myself, but your taste buds might differ.
