Trader Joe’s CHILI LIME ROLLED TORTILLA CHIPS are back!

Trader Joe’s CHILI LIME FLAVORED ROLLED CORN TORTILLA CHIPS – “SPICY, TANGY AND IRRESISTIBLE”. GLUTEN FREE

Hooray! Finally these addictive tortilla chips are back on the shelves at Trader Joe’s (NYC)! Missing In Action for months. Feared to have been Discontinued. So when I saw them last week my heart leapt with joy. Reports I had seen about these on Reddit and elsewhere that they were Discontinued seems fortunately to have been wrong, hopefully at least. So I’m guessing out of stock for so long due to some vendor / supply chain issue… ? It is hard to know if items are really “discontinued” or TOS “temporarily out of stock”. You can ask the TJ’s captain for more info about an item.

Now about these chips. If you never tried these they are really something else. Rolled up tortilla chips that are loaded – and we mean loadedwith spices all over them. The kind of snack where your fingers get coated and stained from seasonings. Your fingers eating these will be coated with red dust from the chili and lime seasonings. These are Spicy Fiery with a little mouth puckering too. I have read these are like “TAKIS FUEGOS”? As I’ve never actually tried TAKIS Fuego chips I can’t say how close they are. These may be “a love it or hate it” item as they are pretty intense. Personally I find these addictive. I love them. Spicy delicious, crunchy and intense. My wife however doesn’t like them saying they are way too much in the spice department. This is OK by me as that means I get the whole bag to myself;) While I do like eating these right out of the bag I particularly like them with other (blander) items. Like some a little cheese, some bean dip, or guacamole, or even dipped with ricotta or cottage cheese. These balance out the spice bang a bit. A package is now $2.99.

TIP: As far as finding out if an item is Discontinued, I will usually will go to the store’s Captain to ask them to look up the item on the computer and check it’s status, and see if it’s just “TOS” (temporarily out of stock) or officially discontinued (“Disco’d” in TJ’s speak).
