This is a new Trader Joe’s coffee (Sept 2026), “limited”

This coffee is grown high up in the mountain highlands of the Badeyi region, of the Guji zone in Ethiopia. “Grade 1 specialty beans”… “Ethiopia’s Guji zone is among the highest-elevation coffee-growing regions in the world, with most farms situated more than a mile above sea level.”

They roast the beans to a light roast, they say “to leave as much of their sweet, rich, stone fruit-forward flavor intact as possible”.

This coffee had a nice flavor. I think a little stone fruit flavors going on. Though they don’t mention chocolate I get just a hint of thatt too. Very pleasant with I thinka touch of that typical zing that many African coffees have. The label says “Light roast”. I would call this a “dark light roast”. Not quite medium.

They have another Ethiopian coffee “Fair Trade Ethiopian coffee” which is always on the shelf which I think is a bit darker, listed as a “dark medium”.

They suggest its a good coffee for making as a pour-over to let out all its caramel and stone fruit flavors. I did it both methods, a pour over and in my Moka Pot and liked the results both ways.

So in general I liked this Ethiopian coffee and would say it’s worth trying especially if you really like checking out Trader Joe’s coffee offerings as much as I do. Their prices on “exotic” or single origin and other coffees from all over the world are far less than many other places.

Very nice coffee.

They say this coffee will be around for a LIMITED time. So if you are interested, grab it while you can.
