“Ultra thin and pliable. Won’t crack when rolled or folded. This Norwegian flatbread is ideal with cheese and can be enjoyed with both sweet and savory fillings: strawberry jam and whipped cream, smoked salmon and cream cheese and whatever else you dream up”

TIP – Serve Warm!!!!

NEW ITEM – Trader Joe’s just came out with this very soft traditional Norwegian flatbread. Lefse is a thin potato bread made mostly from potatoes (around 80% potato plus a little wheat).

I was not familiar with LEFSE before I saw this at TJ. But if you are from Minnesota, perhaps know it already. From what I gather. a very traditional way to eat it would be a “sweet” version spreading on butter, sugar and cinnamon. I warmed it up and put all those things on an rolled them up. Very yummy that way. I also tried it “savory” with smoked fish and cream cheese. That way was OK but I would prefer using LAVASH for that as that is more “bready” as made with whole wheat.

Its OK. We liked better sweet (cinnamon sugar and butter) than savory (smoked fish). If you are into flatbreads (raises hand) I’d say this is worth trying at least once. I probably won’t buy it again. For this style of thin flatbread/bread I would prefer the whole wheat LAVASH.

$3.99 (went up in a week from $3.49!!)

Googling it I found a lot of recipes for it on Youtube on how to make it which looks fairly easy and I bet a homemade fresh version would be really good….
