Trader Joe’s Super Premium STRAWBERRY ICE CREAM. It is Super!

“What’s the scoop? We’ve captured the spirit of strawberry season in an ice cream carton. Each rich, velvety spoonful of this cheerful pink treat is studded with strawberries and bursting with fruit forward flavor”

RAVE

What Trader Joe’s has to say about this Super Premium STRAWBERRY ICE CREAM:

“… our product developer spent months tinkering with the recipe to ensure it delivered the ideal balance of creamy, velvety goodness and bright, fruit-forward personality of Strawberry season. The Ice Cream’s cheerful pink color comes courtesy of fruit & vegetable juices (unlike others found elsewhere colored with artificial ingredients)”

I’ve been reading about how good this new Strawberry Ice Cream was and really wanted to try it. So I go to buy it at my Trader Joe’ only to see NONE left. Oh No!? Already all SOLD OUT?! Bummer!

Fortunately, an employee saw yours truly and another guy both looking in the case for it, and asked if we wanted some. My new friend and I almost shouted. Yes! Please! She said some just came in the back, and she would bring it to us. Our lucky day! Very popular item it seems.

So how is it? Here’s my honest review of TJ’s new strawberry ice cream. Honestly I can see why this is so popular, as actually is as good as it’s reputation. It really has a wonderful strawberry flavor in every bite. You see little bits of strawberries in the ice cream. It’s just so tasty and yummy. It’s another of those Trader Joe’s products that you take a bite of and have to force yourself to stop. I put the remaining half pint it back in the freezer for the next day.

BTW “Super Premium” refers to the amount of “overrun” (or air) in ice cream.

“The Super Premium designation on this Ice Cream is a particular point of pride—to achieve it, an ice cream must have less than 50% overrun. Overrun refers to the amount of air whipped into the ice cream during the churning process – lower overrun equals richer, denser ice cream. We can’t reveal the exact percentage of overrun in this pint, but we can guarantee it’s significantly less than 50%!” – TJ

If you love strawberry ice cream, this is one you have to try. I am giving this ice cream a big thumbs up.

I would buy this again.

Trader Joe’s New BLACK SESAME MOCHI ice cream

Delightfully chewy rice dough exterior with interior of sweet ice cream infused with black sesame seeds.

Trader Joe’s recently released Black Sesame Mochi, a new frozen dessert featuring a black sesame-infused ice cream filling encased in a chewy mochi shell. The mochi is reportedly quite popular, with many finding the nutty and slightly savory flavor of the black sesame to be a unique and enjoyable addition to their dessert options.

The internet seems to be going crazy about these, for good reason. They are terrific. Many are saying Trader Joe’s new: BLACK SESAME MOCHI may be the best product they released in Summer 2025.

Inside the chewy, yummy mochi rice wrapper you find the ice cream filling, with the delicious, unique flavor of black sesame seeds (known in Japanese as “kuro goma”).

We tasted these and we all just loved the flavor of the black sesame. This is just a great dessert or snack. You are supposed to wait three minutes so they slightly defrost to get to the perfect texture and flavor. Waiting is the hardest part…

$4.99 for six pieces. (7.6 oz, 216gr)

LIMITED TIME – so grab them while you can

GLUTEN FREE, Contains milk, sesame (nut)

“Our supplier infuses an ice-cream base of milk, cream, and cane sugar with a paste made from roasted, finely-ground Black Sesame seeds. This paste not only lends a rich gray-black hue, but also brings that characteristic nuttiness with a hint of savory to contrast with the flavor of the frozen sweet-cream. Surrounded by a rice-dough wrapper which has also been given the Black Sesame- seed treatment, the resulting couple-bite-sized frozen treat is intriguingly tasty, and an instant conversation starter during your dinner-party dessert course.” – Trader Joe’s

Trader Joe’s WILDBERRY CHEESECAKE ICE CREAM

Trader Joe’s WILDBERRY CHEESECAKE ICE CREAM with cheesecake pieces and a mixed berry swirl

A LIMITED SUMMER EDITION ICE CREAM

https://www.traderjoes.com/home/products/pdp/wildberry-cheesecake-ice-cream-071061

“To herald the coming of summer, we’re offering Wildberry Cheesecake Ice Cream, featuring the vibrance of wild berries and bits of cheesecake. That’s right: in addition to a dreamy, sweet-cream ice cream base, you’ll find a generous mixed berry swirl (made with blueberries, elderberry juice concentrate, and a blend of raspberry, strawberry & blackberry purees) and tender bits of classic cheesecake.” – Trader Joe’s

Apparently Trader Joe’s had this two years ago, then it vanished. It’s finally made a come back. Someone on Reddit called this a “hidden gem”.

This lists first three ingredient as “cream, milk, cane sugar…” Yes this is actually Ice Cream. Not “ice cream style frozen dessert” . Just compare this to the fake-y tasting “Gelato Style Frozen Dessert” I reviewed. That stuff had coconut oil as the third ingredient. Here the ingredient list here reads like what you expect when you buy ice cream. If you like cheesecake, and see it, I would give it a try. I really liked it.

INGREDIENTS include : Cream, milk, cane sugar, cheesecake pieces…mixed berry swirl with blueberry, raspberry, blackberry, elderberry…

I was on the check out line, next to the ice cream case, and a worker was putting these in the case. There wasn’t even a sign for this ice cream yet but I was intrigued at the name of it. I asked him if he tried it and he said, yes he did and loved it.

So I got one to try. My honest review? Soo good; this is a delicious ice cream that tastes exactly like it’s name. It actually has little pieces of cheese cake in the ice cream mixed with swirls of berry. I found this on target. As good as something Ben and Jerry’s would come out with. It’s a delicious summer treat.

We enjoyed this for July 4th and to make it even more special I added fresh blueberries on top which of course made it even better with fresh fruit.

One thing to note though. As it got softer, and melted together, the important texture of the cheese cake pieces vanished, so try to eat this while it is still pretty cold.

I would buy this again.

Trader Joe’s (controversial) Italian Pistachio & Fior di Latte Gelato Style Frozen Dessert

WIKIPEDIA : “Gelato is made from a base of milk, sugar, and sometimes cream and/or egg yolks, similar to ice cream, but with a higher proportion of milk and a lower proportion of cream.

Trader Joe’s “Italian Pistachio & Fior di Latte Gelato Style Frozen Dessert”, I say the whole thing needs to be in quotation marks, including the word “Italian”

My wife loves pistachio ice cream and saw this and got some for us to try. How is it? Well, to me, this product is a weird one. First off, if you love pistachio, you know its is one of the trickiest flavors to get right. Basically because pistachios are expensive. The pistachio flavor of this “frozen dessert” barely tastes like pistachio. It doesn’t have much pistachio. In fact the word appears way down in the ingredient list.

Yet I find some people on the net raving about this stuff. How they almost ate the whole container at one go. Really? I assume they’ve never had real pistachio ice cream or gelato. Another thing calls this a “chemical box”.

Doesn’t this even look a little weird to you?

Looking closely at the package I start to think about why exactly are they calling this “gelatostyle frozen dessert“? Clearly it must be that this is not gelato. I assume they can’t legally say “gelato”, due to ingredients, so them must call it “gelato-style” even further emphasized by the addition of the words “frozen dessert“. When you can’t call your product gelato or ice cream, its a “frozen dessert”. Due to the ingredient list? You know the way American cheese is “cheese product” rather than “cheese”.

I look at the package and examine all the ingredients. Do you see that ingredient listed third? It says “Coconut Oil“? Listed as the third ingredient, the first being “water”. Really? Not milk. Some “whey solids” from something that started as milk somewhere.

Ingredients: (Fior di latte flavor): Water, sugar, coconut oil, glucose syrup, non fat dry milk, dextrose, whey solids, mono and diglycerides of fatty acids, spirulina extract….
The pistachio flavor ingredients are almost the same: water, sugar, coconut oil, glucose, etc. And then somewhat down the list it finally says, pistachio.

Anyway if you buy this seeing “gelato” on the package without really reading closely just realize you will be getting “Gelato-Style Frozen Dessert” as opposed to “gelato”.

Product of Italy? Mamma Mia. Trust me, Gelato loving Italians would never eat this “gelato style frozen dessert”. It’s made solely to export to us (dumb) Americans.

I won’t be buying this again. In fact, I came back and asked for a refund (rare)

That five bucks I will use to buy some really good Trader Joe’s ice cream like Mint Chip or Coffee Blast.

Trader Joe’s Italian Pistachio & Fior di Latte Gelato Style Frozen Dessert $4.99

I have found some people praising online this! Me, I would not buy this again.

To each, his own.

Aha – I saw this after I reviewed this calling this product a chemical box: “Trader Joe’s Is Being Slammed By Shoppers for Their New $5 Dessert: It’s a ‘CHEMICAL BOX’

Trader Joe’s “Hold The Cone” MINI ICE CREAM CONES

“8 Mini Ice Cream Cones filled with rich vanilla ice cream and a chocolate coating”

Who hasn’t heard of these yet? Well, just in case you haven’t, these little mini ice cream cones dipped in chocolate that Trader Joe’s came out with are Da Bomb. These are SO GOOD! Not to mention so popular. They seem to fly off the shelves. As you can see in the photo I took when I went to buy them there was an almost empty shelf but luckily there still were a few boxes left so I could get one to try out for review. I got the vanilla but I’m sure all are as good.

They are small mini cones, kind of a perfect size when you are in the mood for a little ice cream snack. One is maybe about 5 or 6 bites. You could easily eat two or three! Even if you did eat three, according to the box that would be 260 calories, not too crazy bad.

The chocolate covering is not super thin, nor too thick, it’s just thick enough (ok its not Dove Bar thick) so you do get some very good chocolate with the first few bites, and the chocolate is good. The combo is so tasty matched with the all three elements: ice cream, chocolate coating plus the tasty cone it is in.

One thing I especially liked about these is that you get some ice cream all the way down to the very bottom of the cone which really makes these good till the last bite. Another huge improvement? They now are seeming to pour a little chocolate in the very bottom of the cone. This acts as a “stopper” and helps the ice cream not melt out through the bottom.

These MINI CONES really became popular fast. They may be Trader Joe’s most popular dessert item now. They’ve come out with and added a number of flavors besides the original (Vanilla) one so now you will see a few flavors like Strawberry, Mint and Chocolate…

If you haven’t tried these yet – and you can find them – be sure to check them out. You can not go wrong with these yummy treats.

$3.99 box, of 8 mini cones (8 oz)

Trader Joe’s ENGLISH TOFFEE ICE CREAM

“BROWN BUTTER ICE CREAM WITH COCOLATEY COVERED TOFFEE PIECES AND ALMONDS”

This ice cream is a “seasonal, holiday” limited edition flavor, which probably means you will only see it around Thanksgiving to New Years)

Here’s what Trader Joe’s says about it:

“When we set out to create this latest addition to our seasonal ice cream lineup, we could have very well started and ended by just adding bits of crunchy English toffee to something plain and simple, like chocolate or vanilla— English toffee is more than delicious enough to work on its own. But that’s not what we did. We decided, instead, to go the extra mile of adding bits of chocolatey-coated toffee and almonds to a rich, remarkably full-flavored base of brown butter ice cream. As a result, Trader Joe’s English Toffee Ice Cream is something even greater than a celebration of Toffee—it’s a symphony of sweet, buttery flavors, a revel of roasty, toasty, nuttiness, and a carnival of all things caramel-y in each and every spoonful.”

https://www.traderjoes.com/home/products/pdp/english-toffee-ice-cream-079119

My review of this is this new limited edition ice cream that Trader Joe’s is it’s good. Very yummy stuff if however pretty sweet, but let’s face it toffee is pretty sweet.

If you are a fan of toffee you will probably love this. They did a great job recreating that taste. I really like this but as it is so rich and sweet I ate this in smaller amounts than I might usually go for. As opposed to lets say the famed Coffee Bean Blast ice cream where if I didn’t make sure and stop myself, I could probably devour a whole pint a sitting! So maybe this is a good thing with the English Toffee ice cream treat as I might more easily self limit themselves with this stuff!

I especially liked the English Toffee Ice Cream best when I paired it with some fruit especially bananas, kind of banana split, just the ice cream on top of sliced banana. This combo was a great match and cut down some of the richness so if you get this, try that combo. Or with some other fruit.

This ice cream is quite sweet but delicious, just don’t eat a whole pint by yourself.

Trader Joe’s WILD BLUEBERRIES (from Quebec, frozen)

FROZENGREAT FOR SMOOTHIES

“Trader Joe’s Wild Boreal Blueberries are little blue gems grown with absolutely no pesticides in Quebec’s Boreal forest region. The Boreal is a collection of protected lands that spreads across Canada…. The fruit grown in the Quebec Boreal thrives on the healthy soil conditions and unique climate of the region. The sweet tart flavor of these wild blueberries is unmatched. Try them for yourself in everything from cereal, muffins, cakes, smoothies and ice cream. They really are wild”

We really liked these blueberries. They are something buy them all the time at Trader Joe’s as they are great to have in the freezer. Not only are these one of my favorite Trader Joe’s products, I hear they are favorites of TJ’s employees as well which is really how you know something is good.

These frozen wild blueberries from Canada are small but full of flavor. These will defrost pretty quickly at room temperature if you just take them out for 10 minutes or so. You could also run them under cold water for maybe 10 seconds in an pinch but I feel like that washes some flavor away. When defrosted you can use these just as you would use fresh berries. We use them in our bowls of cereal and yogurt or kefir, mix them into oatmeal, or put these on top of vanilla ice cream – a super yummy combo! These blueberries are great for making smoothies of course, in which case you can just pour them frozen right into your blender with your other ingredients. I’ve even made excellent blueberry jam from them, and of course they are great to use in baked goods, for example blueberry muffins or even pancakes! Topped with some maple syrup naturally.

Trader Joe’s MINI MINT ICE CREAM MOUTHFULS (mini ice cream sandwiches)

MINT CHOCOLATE CHIP ICE CREAM BETWEEN TWO CHOCOLATE WAFERS

Well, my wife bought these for us to try. All I can say is this… about two days later she told me I had to go buy her another box as she found only one left. I had eaten most of them.

She barely got a chance to eat any of them and she wasn’t too happy about it. OK I confess this was true. I did eat almost all of them. I couldn’t stop myself! These are “Dangerously Good”, as we say in our house.

Basically these are small ice cream sandwiches; with mint chocolate chip ice cream between two chocolate wafers, like an Oreo/Joe Joe’s but these wafers are pretty soft.

The combination of mini and double chocolate inside and out is really good!

Eating just one of these is nigh on impossible, in fact I dare you to try eating just one (you will want another as soon as its finished)

Four of these have 240 calories, so figure one of the mini mouthfuls comes out to 60 calories.

The box goes for $4.49 (15 oz/12 mini ice cream sandwiches)

I would buy these again. (I have to. I ate almost the whole box myself)

Trader Joe’s BANANA PUDDING ICE CREAM (it’s a hit)

Trader Joe’s ‘BANANA PUDDING ICE CREAM with salted caramel swirl & vanilla wafer cookie pieces” (LIMITED EDITION)

A reader told me I had to try out this new flavor ice cream Trader Joe’s came out with recently, so I did. All I can say is boy were they right. I thought it was SO good. In fact I believe via social media, the word has gotten out about it and it’s become so popular, it seems to be flying off the shelves. Also it was a Flyer Item. When I recently went to my TJ’s to buy some I was crushed to see just an empty row where it should be.

Fortunately though that might have been my Lucky Day. An employee just happened to be restocking the case with it just at that time, and he saw my crest fallen face looking at the empty shelf. He put a pint in my hand and told me to enjoy it. O frabjous day!

After I tasted some I understood why it’s flying off the shelf. It’s quite good, with a fairly unique flavor concoction that reminds me of something Ben & Jerry would come up with. If you love bananas (raises hand) you may love this. Yes it has some kind of really good banana flavor, and they list actual puréed bananas as the third ingredient listed. The taste does kind of remind you of banana pudding. In addition to some salted caramel swirls it even has tiny bits of vanilla cookie bits (‘Nilla wafers) like banana pudding has. It all blends up very well for a unique, subtle flavor combo.

As good as it was by itself I couldn’t help wonder how it might taste if I added some bananas on top! I cut up 1/2 a banana and added that and yes, super Yum with them. Like a banana, banana split. Trust me and try it with a banana! So good.

Still I did have one problem with this ice cream; It was so good the tiny little pint magically vanished so quickly. I put this ice cream into “dangerously good” category. If it’s in the freezer, I’m going to have a hard time staying away. It’s $3.79 pint (well it is a premium custom seasonal ice cream)

I would buy this again. If I can find it, that is. It was sold out when I went back a few days later. And a few days later again I could not find any in the freezer. So consider yourself lucky if you see this, and grab one. You won’t be sorry. Oh and it’s a “Limited Edition” flavor. So don’t expect to see this forever. Maybe it will be seasonal?

https://www.traderjoes.com/home/products/pdp/banana-pudding-flavored-ice-cream-074560

TJ’s says: “Made for us by the same supplier as some of our other (widely celebrated, if we do say so ourselves) seasonal ice cream pints, each bite of Trader Joe’s Banana Pudding Flavored Ice Cream expertly evokes the taste of a classically sweet and creamy banana pudding…We’re not just saying you’ll love it—we’re saying you’ll love it a whole bunch”

Now just in case you can’t find this flavor and want some recommendations for other flavors at Trader Joe’s I’d say you can’t go wrong with the COFFEE BEAN BLAST or MINT CHOCOLATE CHIP ice creams.

Trader Joe’s MANGO ICE CREAM BARS

Vanilla Ice Cream and Mango Sorbet Dessert Bars

These Are So Good! They kind of reminded me of a Creamsicle, but grown up and much better. But rather than orange and vanilla these bars have MANGO and Vanilla, which is just a super combination. The vanilla ice cream on the inside is really good. Surrounding that outside is mango sorbet which has a delicious, intense flavor of mango. These are perfect for Summer but frankly I would want to eat this anytime. If you see these MANGO CREAM BARS I suggest you grab them to try.

I would buy them again
